Severe Case of Mommy Brain

Yes, I do know that July has 31 days, and I do know that today is Thursday, but for some reason I thought today was Thursday August 1st. I had been planning on going out to get the Breaking Dawn book tonight at midnight. I got to the store and no one was in line, no books were out, nothing. Kinda strange since I figured the line would have started to form. Long story short, I finally realized that today is only July 31st and I still have another whole day to wait for the book release. Tomorrow is going to be a LONG day.

Conversation with Jay

So I have nothing to do for the next twelve hours. I have finished re-reading all of the Twilight books in preparation for getting the final book tonight. Jay has been helping me stay entertained in the interim. Here is a portion of a conversation we had when I was listening to a Gwen Stefani CD a few minutes ago:

Jay: MY SONG MY SONG!!!
Me: Hey Jay, what is this song called?
Jay: Sweet Scape
Me: Close enough, who sings this song?
Jay: I don't know
Me: It's Gwen Stefani
Jay: Stinkin' Funny?
Me: Want to see her picture (saying this while I am cracking up)
Show him picture of her posing in a jail cell
Jay: What did she do?
Me: It's just pretend, she's not in a real jail
Jay: She's cute and bad. I like it.
(Me laughing on the outside but thinking his taste in cute and bad girls could be a problem when he gets older)
Me: Are you going to marry her when you grow up?
Jay: No, I am going to marry Gracey. (His cousin)

With conversations like this, I might be able to hold of on Breaking Dawn until Jeremy gets home from work on Friday. Ummm....but probably not.

Snort

I wish I had a picture of her doing this cause it's so dang funny, but I'll just have to do when she's not looking I guess. Anyway, Alyssa is doing the funniest little expression when she wants to be silly. She will crinkle up her little nose, squint her eyes and purse her lips then "snort" through her nose at you. It cracks me up for hours. Ok, I know this is a pretty lame post with out a picture of her doing it, but I just wanted to share something that made me laugh today.

Jay was snuggling with me in bed the other morning when he had a sneezing fit. I asked him if he'd like a tissue. He said "No, my hand is just right." Thank goodness for Purell!!

When we were getting in the car today after church Jay kept saying "I know, I know, I know......" over and over and over again. After a while I got annoyed and asked "Jay, what do you know?" His response: "I don't know" Jeremy laughed and said that it sounds like us. I'll be saying something to Jeremy and he'll repeat, I know. Then I ask him what I just said and his reply is "I don't know"
To my future daughter-in-law: I am SO sorry, I feel your pain!

Jay's baseball season ended just after Memorial Day, but I have been wanting to post these pictures anyway. He was just so darn cute in his little uniform!

Pay your Tithing!

Like many many many families with young children and a spouse in school, we have been pretty tight with our budget lately. We have been determined to not let that affect our tithing payments because once you get behind it's SO hard to get caught back up. Well, for those who are debating whether to spend that tithing money on groceries let me share our tithing story. We have been scrounging through the cupboards the past week because after catching up on all our bills and some unexpected car repairs that drained our savings last week, we didn't have much to spend on groceries. Last Sunday I had an envelope full of cash to hand to the Bishop and it was sure hard handing it over to him not knowing what to feed the kids this week. Luckily the bishop popped his head into the nursery to see how we were doing right before church let out so I handed it over.
Well, as you can see we didn't starve this week and we made it all the way to Friday (payday) without grocery shopping. When I woke up on Friday morning I had a million chores around the house to get done and didn't even think about going shopping until 5:00PM. By that time the kids where pretty restless and wanted to go to the BBQ we had been invited to that I was going to blow off. I figured that at least they could eat and I could relax and not have to worry about shopping until the next day. While we were at the party, the host had remembered that he owed Jeremy $100 for some computer work he had done a few months ago. (We forgot all about it too) Well, some other guy overheard that Jeremy is a computer guy and started to talk to him about how he owns 10 tanning salons and needs a computer guy to network all of them on the same system. So it turns out that he offers Jer a part-time job while he is out of school for the summer and when he does go back to school in the fall he still wants Jeremy on Saturdays and to help him hire an IT team. (He actually wanted Jer full time, but we can't leave a job with benefits for one with out them)
Not only that, but there was another lady there that we met at the same party last year (who happens to be from Rochester) and works for a physicians office doing their medical coding. The two of us started talking about the old insurance company I worked for and by the end of the evening she was telling me she wanted me to help her out with their insurance billing (something I can do from home)
So by the time we went home, both of us had been offered jobs at this party. To top it all off, when I checked the mail this afternoon, there was a $250+ check from our escrow company for the balance on our account after paying our quarterly taxes. Ok, so that was our money anyway, but still it was unexpected.
Sorry for going on and on, but I just wanted to share with you that the Lord does know your needs and if you rely on him and are obedient to your covenents, he will give you blessings beyond your expectations.

Sick and Tired

You know that saying, "I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired"? Well, I am sick and tired of my kids being sick and me being tired. This morning I was finally dozing off to sleep around 1AM when I heard Jeremy in the bathroom with Jay who happened to be throwing up again. Unfortunately, no one heard the first time he threw up in his bed and so all the sheets needed to by washed, the carpet needed to be steam cleaned and Jay needed a bath and new pj's. Jeremy took care of the bedroom while I took care of Jay. After a bath, more dry heaving, clean pj's, another trip to throw up in our bathroom, a drink of water and about 1/2 hour of snuggling and singing to him, we finally all fell asleep in my bed around 2:30AM. You can imagine how well I slept with a five-year-olds knees in my back.
This morning the baby that I watch would not go back to sleep after being dropped of at 6:30. Jay is feeling better now but since he slept all morning he won't take a nap. Alyssa is wide awake too, so no hope of a nap for me today.
I guess the one thing I miss about working outside of my home is the ability to call in sick after a night like last night.
